Chase current account Re-open

Hello to all. Just to clarify People saying you can’t open A new chase current account after closing an old account, I have jus in the last few days managed to open a new chase account again by Emailing the Executive office & complaining firmly but politely that this was wrong and unfair to hold previous customers to ransom over closing a previous account which was kept in good standing? And that this was not a good business model to attract new prospective customers…… This was investigated by a lovely lady from executive team on behalf of ceo & I had a new chase account opened by the Monday following my complaint on the previous Friday……. So this can be done with some patience & a little Balsy know how……

As a matter of interest, did you close it or switch out?

So it is not a new account? just your old one re-opened?

OP uses the term "new account" three times so I'm guessing it's a new account.

Also I don't think a closed current account can be re-opened, regardless of bank.

Out of interest did Chase uphold your complaint and opened an account because they agreed with your complaint about you being treated unfairly? Or did they open an account for you as a good will gesture?

It’s good that you got the outcome you had. And might no seem good commercial sense for a bank to refuse you an account based on the fact that you previously closed your account. However banking institutes are entitled to open or refuse to open an account for a customer as they so wish. Chase also state on their FAQ’s that they are unable to open an account in the future if you decide to leave. I suspect you have got lucky and opened an account for you as a gesture of good will
  • They could likely always do a manual process to re-open closed customer profiles.
This would appear like something done to avoid bad PR more than anything persuasive on the OPs part.

If they did opt not to do further business and assuming access to basic banking facilities from another supplier - that would be the end of the matter.

this long held view may well come to an end, as a result of the recent Farage’s debacle:

Apparently as a “Licensed” business they may be restricted in the level of decision making on customer choices they may want to make.
