Parking Charge Notice on VERY faded cross hatched space
metamin
Hi all, I just received a Parking Charge Notice for parking in a space that apparently had cross hatching in it. But it is so faded that I didn't even realise that this was what the fine was for until I phoned up Ocean Parking and they explained!
I've attached the two photos they sent in the letter (with only the registration and date blurred) - only after pointing it out can you see some small yellow blobs at the corner of the space - surely it's reasonable to think that those aren't visible from inside a car??
I'm considering appealing the fine as £100 is almost criminal - I would be grateful if anyone with a similar experience has any advice and what do you think of my chances? Many thanks in advance

Of course you appeal. No idea why you redacted the date and time. In order to try and assist you, can you please provide the following information to begin with:
Which PPC? Which location? Have you tried Plan A? Plan A is to complain to the landowner and also write to your MP about this. Have you had any contact with the PPC? If so, have you identified the driver? Were you given an windscreen NtD or did you receive a postal NtK? Is the PCN PoFA compliant? The dates of the event and the date on the PCN are required to help establish this.
There are probably more questions but for now, these are enough to be going on with.
You should take some time to read and digest the Newbies/FAQ thread.1 -
It's not a fine. You won't pay a penny either.
Of course you appeal, but what happened when you tried 'PLAN A' first, as the NEWBIES FAQS thread tells everyone is the first step?PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

UPDATE: For anyone reading this in the future, appealed to Ocean Parking in the first instance but they rejected the first appeal. Then appealed to POPLA via Tony Taylor parking ticket appeals, it took a few weeks but the Assessor agreed the cross hatching was not clear enough so the appeal was successful. The PCN was cancelled

Can't understand why you couldn't do such a simple thing yourself and it was never a "fine"!
