Amazon refunds

Hi there hoping for some advice, I have ordered and received a tin of varnish via Amazon, cost £13.99 the item was received with the varnish having leaked all over the packaging so I initiated a return and refund via Amazon, the item was returned to the seller at cost to me of £3.49 the refund that has been initiated is £11.66 Can i get the cost of the VAT back and or my return costs? thank you.

Did you explain why you were returning it?

Did they not provide a pre-paid label?

Have they explained why they've only refunded £11.66 if you paid £13.99?  Is it VAT?

Do they for some reason think you bought as a business and not as a consumer?

Hi yes they had the full explanation, ie it had leaked, photos as proof by me and the the delivery person also took photos and reported, the label returns label provided did not include postage I am not a business, they have said the refund of £11.66 is minus VAT, thanks
