India? 6 months max stay.
I doubt many travel insurance companies care whether he backpacks. If you are simply after the cheapest though, it's best to shop around.
Many Travel bloggers recommend World Nomad's but bear in mind they get paid commission for getting you to follow their links.
I used the Post Office for my last two trips over there, but when the time is right to book another trip, I'll do what I'm recommending you do, shop around and get one that fitsSealed Pot Challenge 15 #78

Be careful in regard to activities. For example many don't cover medical costs if someone hires a motor scooter and they have an accident.
Your Son needs to think about what he needs cover for.
Brokers such as PJ Hayman and Harrison Beaumont are worth contacting to find out about what cover is available. The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.0
