New Boiler Worcester Greenstar 4000 combi frost protection (garage)

Hello
Currently having British Gas replace boiler ( located in garage ) and radiators .
Installer ( electrician ) has said not to fit an external frost stat as boiler has its own internal frost protection and its not needed
Installer said that as there was only a small amount of pipework in garage , additional external frost stat not required
I phoned Worcester Bosch technical team for advice who advised to go with installers recommendation and that there should not be a problem when I explained boiler location and pipe work
Have looked a lot on-line and as always seems to be very mixed opinions and a grey area

Original boiler has been in same location in garage for 20 years with out external frost stat and never had a problem ( just using boilers internal frost protect)

Would appreciate any help or experience

Thanks for your help

Just had a quick look at the technical & user manuals for the Greenstar boiler - Frost protection is built in, so the installer is correct, no external frost stat is required.
Make sure all your pipework is well insulated using the real thick pipe lagging. If you can, build an insulated cabinet around the boiler to keep as much heat in as possible.

When I was getting quotes for a new boiler install, one option that was floated was to put it in the garage. Yes, it would have saved a bit of space indoors, but I rejected it on the basis that frost protection would waste gas. In addition, the heat generated by the boiler when heating water or running the central heating would be wasted. Having got the new boiler installed in the hallway, the amount of heat coming from the casing is quite noticeable. During the winter, that extra little bit of heat will make a difference.

Combis doing CH heating are usually very quiet, and I'd suggest wouldn't be a problem for most sleepers.
A combi firing up for DHW demand is quite a different thing, tho' .

Can certainly confirm the noise increases considerably when the boiler is working flat out when hot water is initially called for. Don't know what the noise levels are like for central heating yet - Ask me again in December.
But based on what I've heard over the last few weeks, I'm not sure I'd want the boiler in a bedroom (even in a cupboard).

We had ours put in the hot press beside our bedroom. It was like a jumbo jet taking off so after changing just about everything in the boiler they moved it to the loft. I'll just have to accept any heat loss for being able to sleep!
