Car insurance moneysupermarket quotes inaccurate

I filled out the long money saving expert form for money supermarket and received several quotes. When I go to the insurance company website I'm asked to 'verify' all the details I already provided. Two of them are changed from the data I input on the original form - value is down from £11,1270 to £9,000 and annual mileage has mysteriously changed from 7,000 to 3,500. So I correct these details to match the data I input on money supermarket.
The price then goes up by £40 [about 7%].
What's the point in offering a quote based on detailed data, and then increasing it when you try to purchase?

Aggregators like MSE have to have a long list of questions and options to sate the requirements of all the big name companies that use their sites because ABC may refuse to go onto the site unless "where do you leave your car at night" differentiates between an underground residents carpark and an at/above ground residents carpark.
Almost no insurer is going to ask the identical questions with the identical options as the Aggregator and as such there needs to be a mapping and so "underground residents carpark" may become "driveway" if the insurer only has the three classic options of garage, driveway or street. This is why you are instructed to verify the information on the vendors site before buying. You may decide actually your parking is more akin to a garage and so change it.
Some issues are therefore inevitable but some combinations of aggregator and vendor are better than others. In the old days MSE used to just estimate the premium whereas their competitors made a live call to the vendor for premiums but MSE did eventually catchup with the others.
