Your only chance as I see it is if you get a POPLA assessor on your side on entrance signage it does not conform to the BPA COP as below.

However PE will claim it's up to the motorist to read signage on site and there seems to be a dirty great parking sign at the shop entrance, there is a customers only sign behind the tree, which you possibly would miss turning left into the car park.

You quite clearly were not an ALDI customer by timing and own admission, and admitted on here you shopped elsewhere (not something you should admit to in an appeal) and you stated you read the signage, but parked anyway.

The anpr camera is clearly on the building pointing straight at the entrance though again no signage to state this visible which there should be.

If the NTK is compliant signage is your only appeal point so you have just a slim chance at POPLA, if you fail and don't pay up you will end up in the SCC, your choice.

Thank you very much for your comments. For some reason I haven't received any notification about new replies. 
Just to clarify, I'm not a kind of person who doesn't care about anything and is entitled to everything. I was fully aware that it may not be a good idea to park there hence I carefully read the signage (despite it's not visible at the entrance but I know that's not an excuse) before I parked up. I did not see any statement saying "ALDI customers parking only" or anything like that. The only relevant sentence was "type your registration number into terminal located inside of the store".
As for parking nearby- yes, if I saw anything like "ALDI customers parking only" I'd look for any other place to park. We were going to the shop just by the corner for not longer than 5-10 mins but after shopping we decided to have a meal, hence the parking duration of 43 minutes.
I'll just pay these £40.

Oh dear. Are you just giving up and falling into the scammer's trap? If you pay the scammers, you become part of the problem as you are then just funding their scam and will be marked as a "mug" by them for future reference.

Have you done your POPLA appeal or are you just being influenced by the bribe discount they are offering?

Yeah and I'm ashamed of that.. I tried to pay but it doesn't let me pay discounted charge even though today is the 14th day. If I have more time to look into it I may try POPLA appeal. I have lots of things going on in my private life so these scammers may benefit from it..
