PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING: Hello Forumites! In order to help keep the Forum a useful, safe and friendly place for our users, discussions around non-MoneySaving matters are not permitted per the Forum rules. While we understand that mentioning house prices may sometimes be relevant to a user's specific MoneySaving situation, we ask that you please avoid veering into broad, general debates about the market, the economy and politics, as these can unfortunately lead to abusive or hateful behaviour. Job issues around exchange/completion

I agree with others that signing now does not place you at any undue risk, and that the solicitor will not proceed without further agreement from you.
I would also try to get exchange and completion as close together as you can agree, to minimise the risk of anything happening between the two dates (but I probably wouldn't try to exchange and complete on the same day - that itself brings other risks.3 -

Try and find out what you can about a likely timetable for the misconduct proceedings before doing anything. For now, proceed as normal. It sounds like nothing is imminent on the exchange front at present, more that they want to be sure all the paperwork is ready.0

In the public sector, it's rare to be suspended unless the allegations are serious or there is a concern about you being in the work place whilst the investigation continues. I've represented quite a few employees who have been suspended, some have had no further action, some have had to go to hearings and survived, and some have been dismissed. If I was you, I'd hang fire on telling anyone at the moment and see what happens at work.
As an aside, if you are in a union, make sure your union rep knows what is going on. If you are in the private sector, they are supposed to follow the same rules, but not sure whether they do.0 -
You must have some idea what this investigation is about to be so concerned about the property purchase?0
