Plusnet broadband setting still showing on my network settings

Hi

I hope someone can solve the following mystery for me.  I switched long ago (talking years here) from Plusnet to NowTv for broadband BUT I still have a  plusnet service  showing on my network and internet settings list, (I can't connect to it), - why is this?

I'm not paying for a plusnet service.

Is there anyway I can drop this from my list?

Thank you!

It depends what you mean by network and Internet settings and the device, but generally phones and laptops will remember any networks they have connected to and keep them stored and Android devices will sync those across all devices on the same account. If it is a smart TV then unless you deleted the old connection it will stay there until you do.

What is the actual device you are seeing this on?

@MattMattMattUK Thank you for replying.  The connection is listed under my Network tab on my laptop.  If I click on the internet symbol on my task bar the window pops up with the list of connections and it lists both.  I would like to remove the plusnet connection from the list.

Assuming you are using Windows. Goto Setting then Network and Internet, then WIFI. Click on Manage known networks. On the left of the screen click on Plusnet then click Forget.

If it's Windows 10/11 then you can do it a bit more quickly/easily.
Simply right-click the name of the (remembered) network that you no longer want to see, a small context menu will pop-up with the 'Forget' option.
Note that 'Forgetting' a network won't remove it from the list if the network is still broadcasting.
In that case it just clears out -forgets- your saved login/password for that network.
eg. If I clicked 'Forget' on the one in this screenshot then I'd have to re-enter my password for it next time I wanted to connect.

    Thank you @Newcad & @PHK

I've tried the right click approach but I just get an option to Connect - I don't get the option to Forget.

I went to the Setting Network Internet etc to Manage known networks - the Plusnet wasn't listed.  I added the connection which then gave me an option to 'Forget' but when I go back to the task bar pop up Network/Internet it is still listed.

    It's just a bit annoying

That very much sounds like a Plusnet router is being detected. If you've disposed of yours then it might be a neighbours .

Agreed, if you are only getting Connect and not Forget on that context menu then that tells you two things:
1- The network is broadcasting. (otherwise why ask you to connect).
2- You do not have a saved Network Profile for it. (no saved login details, so nothing to forget).
So yes, what you are seeing will be a neighbour who has Plusnet. It isn't that unusual.
For instance if you look at my screenshot again:
The top one 'Gridlink' is my wifi network, it's actually a BT SmartHub2 but I've changed the network SSID name.
The one below it 'BTWi-fi' is also broadcasting from my hub, it's the open BT wifi system (no padlock symbol) that any BT customer can connect to.
Further down there is a 'BT-CFCK7P', that's a neighbours BT wifi, they haven't change the name like I have.
(You'll see that there are also 2 different 'Post_Office' ones, those are 2 different neighbours).

    Thank you @PHK and @Newcad,

Perhaps I shouldn't have switched from Plusnet as the signal strength looks as good as my NowTV and my nearest neighbour is over a field away.  Also my NowTV connection drops frequently.
