Avios Barclaycard is allowing a balance transfer, but how do I separate paying purchases in full?

So I would like to pay the minimum payment for the BT, but obviously would want to pay off any purchases I make in the meantime in full to avoid paying interest.
But how do I set up the DD to do this?

If you have purchases and a BT on a card you will pay interest even if you pay the purchases off in full.0

But they're offering 0% interest BTth081 said:If you have purchases and a BT on a card you will pay interest even if you pay the purchases off in full.0 -
But, generally with the majority of cards, if you do not pay off the whole outstanding balance on a card you pay interest on purchases from the date of purchase. The general rule is do not mix BTs and purchases on the same card unless the card has a specific term where they are treated separately and the interest free period for purchases is maintained.theonenonly said:

However I'm happy to pay the whole purchase balance. So I take it there's no way of separating the BT (which I'll pay the minimum on as its 0%) and purchasing balance?molerat said:

That's right. Your better off just having the zero deal on their and use another card for purchases.1 -
you can pay manually and they should allocate your payment to purchases first and then the rest to BT but check terms and conditions re: repayment allocation.
But by far the best thing is to have a second card for your purchases0 -
Check how payments made by you are allocated. It should be shown on your statement. Most providers allocate your repayments towards your higher interest rate transactions first. On a B/C I have that is the case and I am able to mix purchases and B/T's. As long as I pay the purchase balance off in full by the payment due date then the B/T remains at 0%. But CHECK your statement.0

Barclaycard are an exception to the general rule of not mixing purchases and 0% offers, as they separate the balances out and don't charge interest if you pay the purchases in full by the due date. With most cards you have to pay the full balance to avoid interest.
How Is Credit Card Interest Charged? Barclaycard
However - having said that I've never tried it. I've a Barclaycard which pays 0.5% cashback, and despite getting some decent offers I've always avoided mixing them on it.1 -
Is that the Platinum one with 0.5% cashback.. It's fine to mix with that one. Also register it with Barclaycard Rewards you can get extra cashback.Nebulous2 said:Barclaycard are an exception to the general rule of not mixing purchases and 0% offers, as they separate the balances out and don't charge interest if you pay the purchases in full by the due date. Not true if you play it right. 🙋👍th081 said:If you have purchases and a BT on a card you will pay interest even if you pay the purchases off in full.
You have to wait till you get your monthly statement. Total all the purchases on that statement & then pay them off, them add on the amount to cover the balance transfer.
So it is best not to do this the 1st month after balance transfer, as you then have a figure to work from.Life in the slow lane0
