Poor quality shoes bought online

Buying online is always a risk, this is our story
There is an online trader called Freemanlove0169, it turns out they are Chinese, and trade from China surprise surprise,.this wasn't apparent at the time of me ordering a pair of ladies sandals. Eventually when they did arrive and that took a month the quality was so poor we demanded a refund. This is not forth coming as all they do when they deem to answer is to offer a small discount for me to keep them. After many emails they are still very negative, I am not that confident in getting a refund. So buyer beware, they have also been reported by others on The Scam Watcher website.

Credit card/debit card/PayPal?
if card which type? MasterCard, visa or Amex?
was it recent?
you have very little chance with the seller. Return postage will be high and legal action - forget it.
you best bet is via the payment method and there is some hope. Please answer the above so we can help further.
there are ways to check where goods are coming from but delivery timescales are usually a giveaway.
what was the quoted delivery timescale in this case?PayPal May require a tracked return to China1 -
normally in these kind of scenarios the card will not refund to because the tracking will show the item has been delivered0

if it’s a working item but low quality then probably its tough if you bought something on the cheap from China.
if it’s not fit for purpose and doesn’t work then there may be a refund although sometimes it’s not worth it if you have to send it tracked to China.
the reason I asked about method of payment is that it does vary.
amex are very good and have a short appeal timescale in which most retailers don’t manage to make a dispute.
paypal often side with buyers although may demand a tracked return.
7-14 days is a giveaway that’s it’s China (uk Royal Mail should be 3-5).
buying cheap tat from China often results in low quality.

I paid with Paypal and I have contacted them but as usual they are dragging their feet with the resolution system. PayPal seem pretty useless to me at the moment."Imagination is more Important than knowledge"0

if they drag their feet 'as usual' why do you use them (rather than use the actual card)2

Freemanlove0169 sounds like a spam email username for flogging dodgy 'viagra' - weirdly googling it only shows this thread.

but did find a site www.scamwatcher.com with no reports/warning found via their search for Freemanlove0169.
There's also Scamwatcher.org that's is itself a a scam according to FCA (site just gives me a blocked message)
