Car insurance

Hi

Never had to claim off my car insurance in over 30+ years of driving.
So when putting in a claim for an accident I had last month is becoming a pain in the backside.
Whilst joining the M6 I had a blackout causing to be unconscious at the wheel leading to me crashing into the central reservation.
After two days in hospital with the advice not to drive for four weeks which I have followed.
Ive been with the same insurance company for two years but now their asking for details of my no claims bonus from my last insurance company which is them.
I need to supply a GP letter to say that I was fit to drive at time of accident which I can understand.
My cars a right off but they keep sending me emails that they want something then they ask for something else. Driving me nuts excuse the pun. I’m without a car which I need as I work in the NHS community team so a cars important.
How long does it take to settle up as they seem to be playing stall tactics to me.

    As long as it takes.

There is no benefit for them to stall.

There is every reason for them to make sure everything is done right.
  • Your renewal notice often acts as proof of NCD, can you send them that?

Usually counted in months.  Sometimes in a year or two.

The reason for the dribs and drabs style approach is that often these things work like a flow chart.  i.e. if yes to that question, then obtain "X".  If no, then nothing needed.

They'll be asking for the proof of NCD from before you joined them... when NCD is checked varies massively between insurers with some deciding only to do it at point of claim.
