Currently on a variable dual fuel tariff with SP as fixed deal ended last month.
Looking at Octopus Agile - reason being we are disabled so can alter our electric usage quiet easily being at home all the time, also we have an electric car, and although we only charge her once every 3 weeks we are adaptable to the times we charge her.
I understand we have to switch to their standard tariff first, and then apply for the agile tariff.
Is it wise to switch both fuels, then leave gas on the standard and switch the electric to the agile?
I´ve done a quote for duel fuel switch to them and prices are identical to what we pay now.
I guess main question is do we switch both fuels or just the electric, are there any bonuses, referral advantage for switching both?
Many Thanks

If you can shift where you use your energy easily then it's a no brainer for electricity.
There is a competitive fix available at the moment so you could fix gas and then have electricity on a beta tariff
Just one bonus as far as I am aware
If you can get on it then tracker for gas but there may be a wait.1 -
I don't think you get the dual fuel discounts of old any more, with anyone, so if unit prices are the same, it's just a preference as to whether you have both with the same supplier.
I would in this case, as it's easier to manage, and having switched to Octopus last year, I still love them, and you'll find lots of praise for them on these forums. Less so for SP.
Have you got a referral code from friends or family for Octopus? Ask them for one if you don't.
I'm sure someone will be along soon, who is familiar with those tariffs. I'm on Tracker, but I see Agile mentioned a lot on here.1 -
Thank you both, looks a no-brainer to me.
Can people stop messaging me offering, posting links to referral codes. I don´t need them thank you1 -

Agile sounds perfect for you if you can shift electricity demand easily (and don't mind doing it).

Right at the moment, I think the cheapest available tariff in the country for gas is Octopus Tracker. It makes a good pair to Agile electricity.

That´s the plan i think, Agile for electric, and Tracker for gas.

If you have an EV you might be better off on Go rather than Agile. Go has the advantage of stability: Agile and Tracker tariffs respond to short-term factors. This is a graph of Agile prices for the past 12 months. Remember the Cap limit on Agile is now £1/kWh.

Although we have an EV the percentage compared to home consumption is very small as we are very low milage users.
When we have compared other specific EV tariffs they always work out more expensive overall.
If prices rise up to those giddy heights we always can fall back to the standard variable tariff, and rejoin agile when prices have settled again, over 30 days time.0 -
Sounds like you really understand how Octopus and the Agile tariff works. You definitely seem like the sort of person who is happy to keep an eye on usage and prices, go for it.Barnsley, South Yorkshire
