Fencing work

I need to have some fencing replaced. A friend has found a person that someone else has used & they recommend him. However, after googling to find out more, I found that this person is an active director of 60 companies, none of which are fencing. Should I be concerned?

May warrant further investigation, how close is the friend to the person who recommended (and how close are you to the friend)? This could be a recommendation from a close friend of a close friend, or a far more tenuous connection. Also are they definitely director to all these companies or is it mistaken identity/ a very common name?!1

Thank you for your reply. I don't believe my friend is close to the other person, I'm pretty close to the friend. It is definitely this person, addresses etc tally. I don't understand how you can be an active director to that many companies in the first place! And when none of them are to do with fencing, is that something to be suspicious about. I'm wondering if this person who's recommended is doing fencing jobs on the side, perhaps with no expertise. I suppose I'm answering my own question really and probably shouldn't let him do the job regardless of what deal he could give me.daivid said:May warrant further investigation, how close is the friend to the person who recommended (and how close are you to the friend)? More likely that they are a company director on the side.
Lots of 'interesting' overseas companies want a UK registered company number, which needs an address and a director. Doesn't mean that the director actually does anything other than appear on paperwork.

Good old identity theft also doesn’t always mean the person knows they are a director of the company at the far end of the scale, particularly when the companies are related to online marketplaces….CSI_Yorkshire said:More likely that they are a company director on the side.

Which could tie in with fencing being a sideline.Jonboy_1984 said:
