Total cost would have been just shy of 2 grand of which we'd paid £370 as a deposit.
the assumption that a band could have legally played on the day at an event that had no more than the legal limit at the time.
Even if they in theory could have, who would be booking a band for an audience which couldn't number more than 30 people minus the band members and any staff?
Hey if I had the money there's some bands I'd book for an audience of one :)

I do get your point but if the band were legally allowed to play an event of no more than 30 I think it would be viewed as the OP cancelling rather than the band being unable to meet their contractual obligations to attend an event and put on a performance.

    Thanks for your input.

What if the venue wouldn't allow the band to play due to their own covid procedures? We listed the venue in the booking so presumably the contract is for them to play at x Hotel rather than anywhere on that date.

Either way I think I'll try an LBA and a formal complaint to someone high up as they've just not even acknowledged any of my emails (apart from when I submitted a dummy enquiry). I'd rather they said no than just ignored me.
