Help CCJ issued unknown to me in 2014 I was overseas

Hi
I was overseas and whilst away an old debt had a ccj issued against me having moved about 6 times in those years previous to 2014 I still am not sure where it was issued.  I moved overseas in 2011, Having returned Lowells are chasing me for payment of 6000 pounds that I have no real recollection of.  I think my ex wanted a loan and I was able to borrow from the HSBC and gave him the money.. We went overseas and it was just forgotten about....However Lowells through the help of the CAB have told them a CCJ was issued and my debt is not statute barred ever.  Will I have to pay this or do I ignore the debt letters texts etc dropping through my door and phone, its very stressful and sadly not money I spent!  HELP PLEASE I CANT SLEEP WORRYING ABOUT THIS LARGE DEBT.... I am working at setting up a new business here as left Canada with nothing after my ex did a runner with the house sale and all money in the accounts thats a whole other story.

you'll need to get more info about where the debt accrued. Whether you spent the money or not is not the issue - it's whether you actually took out the credit agreement and signed to pay that money back. If that's the case then you probably will need to pay this off.

Relax, nothing to get stressed over, any and all non priority debts are paid off at a rate affordable to you and your budget, even judgement debts, so stop worrying, and start sleeping again, its not worth the bother.

Also, if this judgement was obtained in 2014, Lowell can`t do anything with that now, as judgements don`t go statute barred, but do require court approval to enforce after the expiration of 6 years.

You can write and tell Lowell you are aware of this, and if you want to pay this, make an offer of payment that is affordable to you.

If you can`t afford to pay anything, then tell them so, they can`t do anything to make the situation worse, so don`t allow them to bully you.
