Hi everyone

I don't know if there are any bikers out there, but I'm about to buy a motorbike for the first time in many years.

Can anyone suggest a good place to buy helmets, clothing, lock etc?

I'm thinking of discount/outlet shops online or anything near to Warrington, Cheshire. Basically where's the best value?

Thanks in advance, and help would be appreciated

  • We use Sportsbikeshop, doesn't look like they have a store all that close to you but we've got some good quality gear from there. They have online shops too

    Thanks annabanana82.

Yeah, the shops are a bit far, but the website looks good, thanks!

Welcome back to biking. Biker Gear Superstore in Warrington have good reviews so worth a look round. I've bought from various places Sportsbikeshop, Helmet City, Adventure Bike Shop and others. The place with the best price for whatever you want to buy varies all the time  - if you see something you like in a shop/online you can always Google for the the price at other outlets. Are you thinking top end like Rukka or more middle range.

Starting off mid-priced. My daughter is nearly 16 and I’m thinking of having a mid-life crisis, so we’re quite excited about it now, but who knows if it will last?

    Thanks for the tips 👍🏻

..I have recently returned to biking after 40+ years, (3 wheeler scoot.).
Most bike shops I went to offered me a 10% discount if I purchased "all the gear". ie helmet, jacket, trousers, boots and gloves. I ended up spending around £550, of which the helmet was the most expensive at around £200 as I wanted the latest standard full face helmet that could also be used as an "open face" helmet.
I was really impressed with the standard of modern riding gear asboth the jacket and trousers came with built in padding/armour..(nb quite heavy").
I spent approx, £100 each on a jacket and trousers, (high vis jacket a must IMHO). £50 on gloves and £75 on boots. Also looking at a re-enforced back support to slot into the jacket.
I ended up buying it all from the shop that sold me the bike to get the best deal, but all the shops I visited offered me 10% off clothing anyway if I purchased "the lot".
I was surprised that nearly all the jackets were black, (I did not fancy having a seperate high viz jacket). There was only one jacket that offered a "built in" high viz jacket so I went for that....

Thanks Stubod. I hadn’t thought about the 10%. I was thinking of asking the shop to throw in a helmet (if I bought a second-hand bike) but not sure if that would work.

..you can always ask, but if you are riding a bike I would strongly advise you get all the proper gear as well as a helmet. I used to ride in shorts, te-shirt and pumps, an idea that truly horrifies me now that I think about it!!

  • Sportsbikeshop are about the best I have ever dealt with online, Infinity motorcycles are pretty good in person. J&S tend to sell some cheaper own branded gear under the brands Frank Thomas/BKS etc..

    Its never easy.
