Missed smart meter installation appointments

My gas supplier tried twice to install a smart gas meter late last year and at the start of this year, but failed both times due to data issues in their system. On the first appointment they decided not to turn up after realising there was an issue, and the second time they did arrive but the same data issue stopped them installing the meter. Obviously I had to stay in all day both times waiting for them (and on the third attempt when they did manage to install the meter), so it was an inconvenience.

After complaining at them and going round in a few circles, they've agreed that there were two missed appointments and offered £85 compensation in total.

Am I right in thinking that the compensation should be at least £30 plus an extra £30 for not paying the compensation in 10 working days, for each appointment, so £120 total?

Have a read of your supplier’s website. There will be a section on Guaranteed Performance Standards.

The compensation is paid for a missed appointment where the engineer doesn’t turn up without giving notice as in the first appointment. No compensation is payable for the second appointment as he did arrive. There is no compensation payable for not completing the job, just for not turning up
