Replacement passport printed: strange TNT tracking text sent on same day.

Should I worry about this? (I worry about everything these days!)

08.25 today August 2, 2023, I got a text and e-mail saying my new passport is printed and will be transferred to the delivery supplier in the next few days.

But at 07.25 also today, I had a text message from TNT to say that "Passport items are scheduled for delivery today August 2nd, 2023."   In the tracking there is a strange set of scans along with the picture of somebody else's door! .......

Scans:
27/07/2023 01:09:57 - Out for Delivery (between 8am-8pm)
27/07/2023 02:35:47 - Driver Delivery

My address is indeed shown at the top and
Application reference: "correct number for me"
Delivery date: 02/08/2023  Freight Type: Passport    No. of items: 1 / 1

No delivery has happened yet and we are 17.29 on August 2nd, but I believe they do deliver up to 8pm.

Has anybody else had this? Surely they did not return my old passport on July 27th to a different address door??

(Old passport was received by passport authority on July 26th at 10.38. Passport Approval was August 1st, 2023).

Thanks for your help.

Why would they return your old passport separate to your new one??

Do you know if these are legit messages?  Does TNT do the deliveries for the passport office?

Obviously things can and do go wrong as there's that fatal element of human interaction involved in deliveries.

It says on the websites that they do send the old passport separately, Brie. I do not know what peoples' experience is of the timing.

Yes TNT has a valid tracking site just for the Passport and UK visa deliveries.

I did see that Fedex/TNT deliver 2 million parcels and therefore they do reuse the tracking numbers every 4 weeks or so. But this is much less than 4 weeks. (Tracking is 9 digits.)

I have a horrible feeling I am going to be housebound for days.

Your new passport has been printed.

    What happens next

Your new passport will be transferred to our delivery supplier in the next few days. When it’s ready for delivery, they will contact you with a tracking reference.

Your old passport will arrive separately and could take up to 2 weeks to arrive. It won’t be in the same envelope as your new passport.

New passport will be sent from the printer or whatever their logistics work out to be, old passport would have been reviewed and processed somewhere else I presume. No real reason to try to reunite them.

Update on this. I called 0345 6080630   This is the helpline for TNT Passports.   I managed to get through the exuberant AI lady-bot by saying    "Photo attached to delivery is not my house".

Real person said that it was purely a question of a driver doing an incorrect scan, as they only received mine on August 2nd. So those unknown delivery dates on July 27th were too early for mine.

He heartily apologised and assured me that nobody was running a n@arcotic racket, using my address!

He is unable to remove that rogue bit from what I can see on the tracking. But he has requested the actual delivery for tomorrow and I can now see that updated as the new "Delivery Date   August 4th"

    Fingers crossed!

Still waiting for this. The TNT delivery date just keeps being moved up by a day.

Old passport came back straight away after printing with Royal Mail 24 hour tracked!

Update for anyone reading.   (Issue - My passport tracking had somebody else's package and door in it, dated 6 days before my passport was even printed! It did not arrive through my door.)

The passport finally arrived today 21 August.   19 days after it was originally sent out to TNT.

Trying to get HMPO, TNT, and Teleperformance (the Call Centre Company) to actually go into gear and act, was like hitting ones head against a brick wall.

TNT not replying to mails, Tele saying they can't do anything until they hear from TNT it is missing. I was e-mailing and telephoning them all every day, that something had obviously gone very wrong. I was subjected to "Deflect, Deny, Dismiss!"

Only on Aug 8th, after I got really upset on the phone, did a Customer Service Advisor at TP decide it should perhaps be escalated to a Customer Services Manager who then called in the Delivery Investigations Team. It then went into a queue.

They finally responded on August 18th saying they had it. No good explanation as to where is was all that time.
Only "Systems error.... it must have sat around."

I shall always suspect something odd was going on. How can my tracking show a delivery to somewhere else, that was carried out a week before my passport was even printed.  (When that happens with Ebay and Amazon, that is called Courier Fraud.)

And most shocking of all, was to note, how when something does go wrong, the interface between those three entities does not kick in soon enough and is missing vital links in the process.  They are allowing too much time to pass and will miss opportunities to stop a Data Breach and potential fraud.

"Your passport is a valuable document: Keep it safe and secure at all times"  is on the leaflet enclosed with the passport." This is not what I have experienced from those three entities.
