How to back up Outlook 2016 without a subscription

I use Outlook 2016 on my laptop without a subscription. The option to export to a pst file is greyed out. I basically use outlook to save all my important/historic emails. (I use Bluemail on my android for day to day sending/receiving emails). Following the recent loss of historic emails by Virgin, although now reinstated, I want to save/back up my emails as at now just in case this happens again. If it is possible to backup outlook using an alternative method, my next question is, if I end my contract with Virgin, I would lose access to my 'Blueyonder' emails but, will having a back-up enable me to still access the old emails?
