PCH - Dealer Behaviour
Hi there. So I ordered a new car using PCH through the leasing arm of a major car retailer. This retailer has forecourts for a number of brands including the brand I ordered.
Order was placed with PCH forms signed a full three months ago with promise of an August delivery. Chased a few times to say they would be in touch nearer the time. When I enquired at the tail end of last week...I was informed that whilst the manufacturer had signed off on my order, they had failed to properly put it through their system and it wasn't recorded anywhere.
Leasing company solution - new order which puts me back to a November delivery date.
I'm really sceptical about this - I specifically received an email at the time from the leasing company confirming my order had been placed.
My suspicion is that someone has offered to buy the car through the dealer (essentially same company as the leasing firm) and the dealer would rather go with that than do a PHC deal with me.
Has anyone come across anything like this before?
Thanks

I don't think the dealer would care enough to steal your order, more likely is that it's just an admin glitch.
However, if the manufacturer has the order in the system, presumably you can still get that car but it could easily be delayed to November anyway.

You also have to appreciate the wait on cars these days. My mate gave up on his electric MG after 18 months of waiting.

You seem to be suspecting conspiracy when plain incompetency would explain the situation more simply. Mistake seems more likely (whether the mistake is by the Retailer or the Leasing company is unimportant).eka340 said:Hi there. Can you tolerate the new car arriving in November rather than August, or does that delay create outcomes that will incur you in extra costs (rather than simply the inconvenience and disappointment of the delay)?
That is the consideration to focus on in deciding whether you will simply wait or need to seek an alternative solution.0
