Price cap down, DD not so much

Inevitable, really. My Eon.Next app tells me that the monthly cost for my variable tariff has come down, but the email they send every month tells me my DD this month is the same amount as I’ve been paying for a year. Er, no. So I’ll give them one opportunity by replying to the email with “shouldn’t you be changing this?” Then if nothing, I’ll change it manually in the app to what they say I need to be paying. (Incidentally my *summer* usage is of course way below the average monthly figure they want me to pay, but I can live with them having some of my money until November ;))

  • have you done your maths already and you know what the DD amount should be? or are you just ranting - in which case you're on the wrong board.

Don’t think you read my post? Eon themselves *in their app* tell me what the DD ought to be under their current (new cap) pricing, but their email tells me that (at least this month) they will take a DD much higher than that.

They don’t adjust the DD every month though. Is it just a case of the app telling you what 1/12 of your estimated annual usage on the current rates will be?

Give them a nudge on WhatsApp. I messaged to say they hadn't changed mine when I transferred onto the V4 fix. They changed it without any problems.

2022 was a drought year with temperatures higher than average over the cold months.   Modelling by the supplier will be closer to average as it would be foolish to use 2022 use as the typical.

  • Are they/you taking g into account the £400 deduction that you won't get this year.

Any reduction in tariff will be offset by this.

I was not happy with Eons DD amount so I have gone on a variable DD paying only what I use. You must be disciplined enough to save for the winter months though

EOn have now revised my DD twice over last 4 months with the 2 Ofgem cap changes and credit I built up due to EPG savings.

The £400 EBSS was essentially  bill neutral for future DD payments calcs - just govt paid that fraction of use not users for 6m.

It only applies a month after they give the revised calcs in my case.

So Mar 23rd notice figure taken end of April

Changing it on phone used to have a similar delay.

Not sure what they show on app.

Edit - and it used to be more normal for them to dothe annualized DD estimate only once per year at the annual review when they were EOn.  So two 3m apart for me is abnormal - but then so have energy price changes.
