yes i guess its whether a whole day per week suits you better or maybe the daily intermitten fast... or even several days.

I am not doing it for weight loss, i have just heard it helps the body detox and repair and may help with a clear mind x
In that case look at studies of fasting during Ramadan.  I think they confirm that it is good for you.
Only because excessive carbohydrate consumption goes down at the same time.

Unless there is hepatic or renal impairment, the body is extremely efficient at detoxification and requires no assistance.

So much to read, so little time.

This is a great thread, thanks for encouraging me to post again after a long time of just lurking.  :)

I used to fast one day every week, Monday to be precise. I would get up and start drinking water during the day, with a little lemon squeeze in it. I would do so until 19:30, when I'd have dinner.

Now I just skip lunch every other day. I do not have a large breakfast, just a bit of oat flakes in my coffee mug (yeah, sounds vile but I love it, lol). On the days I skip lunch I just keep well hydrated, which I do all the time anyway. In fact, you may find that staying well hydrated is one of the keys to not wanting to eat too much. Soups, juices, tea, coffees all count as fluids, however I avoid juices as their glycaemic index can be high, and go easy on coffee. I have lost over a stone but over a couple of years, because when I eat, well, I EAT (I now live in Italy, so you can imagine).

The important thing however, is that judicious fasting is good for one's health, even when one is down to a normal weight, and if it takes a long time to reach this weight, it will be a permanent result.
Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.

I naturally fast because I dont particularly like food.

So Ive had dinner tonight at 7:30 and wont eat again now till around 3pm tomorrow - I will have a coffee about 10am

I dont feel energised or fit or anything, nor do I keep a balanced weight or lose.

I can have that food cycle for weeks, then I might naturally swap to eat everything in sight.. Im better if Im working when I will take a pack up of something - a pasta salad, lentils, left overs, but it will still be around 3pm before I want to eat
