Define fasting.
If it's not eating or drinking for 24+ hours then that is not good for you.
If it's not eating and only drinking water for 24 max hours well lots of people consider that cleansing.
If it's not eating and only drinking water and a limited amount of fruit juice then that will help ensure you don't run into problem due to very low blood sugar levels.
If you are doing and of the above and you have any number of medical conditions then I'd say you'd be behaving very foolishly and could endanger your health. A good diet, possibly supervised by a health professional, is the best option in my opinion.
It def doesn't cost anything financially to fast but most the people I know that fast for financial reasons do so because they can't afford food, not for the health benefits. Lots of people talk about this when they come to the food bank to get things to feed their children.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe and Old Style Money Saving boards. I have done intermittent fasting a few times to kick start a weight loss programme. You set your window of eating to x hours & outside of that window you can drink, water, tea & coffee.
My window was 3pm until 9pm & as I don't eat breakfast it wasn't an issue.2 -
hi penguin , your 3-9 sounds good. how did you find it?0
-
my main problem is i struggle with black tea and coffee in the morning ( up to the time i eat) . so a dash of milk i assume is cheating.0

I Intermittent fast, but kept failing because I couldn't bare not having milk in my tea and coffee!
I now have milk, and its made no difference to my weight loss, whilst technically not "fasting" it has def helped me adhere to a cal deficit, and a splash of milk is surly better than a full breakfast
It has to be livable otherwise you won't do it2 -
Fortunately I only drink my tea black. Try having it with a bit of lemon. I break the rules a couple of times a week, when I go out with friends, and extend the window, but minor infractions don’t seem to matter.1

I did 16:8 it was useful to kick start a long weight loss journey (almost 5 stone gone now, 7 is my target), however once the night time snacking stopped my body needed and asked for breakfast, so I listened and stopped 😊5

I am not doing it for weight loss, i have just heard it helps the body detox and repair and may help with a clear mind x0
