Car insurance cancellation

Hi - my friend has recently purchased a new car, before he picked it up he got a quote from a single insurer (not on a comparison site) for his current address and was happy with the quote. Over the next 12 months he knows he will move with his job (military) so to be able to budget he got quote for a couple of likely postings and his parents house (to leave the car there if deployed). He then went to the quote for his current address and purchased the policy. Within a week the insurer contacted him to say they were cancelling his policy as he had used various addresses to get quotes and selected the cheapest, they felt he had been fraudulent. He has explained this to the underwriters but they wont listen and aren't interested that he can prove the address on the policy is his current address. Surely this can't be right? Has anyone else had this?

Quote manipulation is a significant concern for insurers, especially as it gets ever easier to generate large number of quotes.

Ultimately he needs to log a complaint, with evidence of his address, about the cancellation of the policy.
