JaJa & ASDA Money

Hi All,

I've got a ASDA Money credit card with a small limit of £500. I put all my spending (Inc Asda petrol) through the card to accumulate generous cashback but I find myself having to pay it off twice, sometimes three times a month.

I called them yesterday and they said that JaJa are not offering any increases at the moment to any customers. I asked why and she didn't really say. Are they in trouble?

You can't even ask for an increase through the app which I find strange.

Mine was increased automatically from £1k to £1.5k last month, maximum I've ever had as a balance is about £200 which is cleared in full every month. I mainly use it at Asda, rarely use for anything else.

    CC limits £26000

    Long term CC debt £0

Total low rate loan debt £3000

    Almost debt free feeling, priceless.

Ex money nightmare, learnt from my mistakes and never going back there again, in control of my finances for the first time in my adult life and it feels amazing.

Strange why they told me they aren't giving increases at the moment. I'll wait a another 4 - 6 months then if nothing changes I'll go somewhere else.

Not in trouble, but understood to be freeing up their float for a new affinity product. They also binned off a large amount of their ex Bank of Ireland (inc Post Office and AA) book in recent months.

My starting limit was £1200. It’s taken 10 months for an increase to £1800. I dont always pay in full but do ensure I pay way above the minimum.

You can safely apply for another card really after 3 months, if you have had it for longer, I would get another card anyway, just for backup in case they have an issue and split the spending and they might be more generous.

Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

I’ve had this card for almost a year now and I’m still on the limit they give me when I opened the account which is £1,000 and like you say you can’t even request in the app for a rise.
