Holland is great if you are driving. Used to go to holiday parks annually years ago with the car and it made family holidays much cheaper.

A bit late, but we had a fantastic week in Poznan middle of August.

I have done the south of France in a car (also Barcelona Spain) It's a long journey and children get fed up quick plus it could take 3 days to get there depending what distance you are prepared to do each day 

I found driving in France easier than uk as less traffic but expensive if you use the motorways

It still was nice and warm when friends (who live in Gdansk) went last weekend.

Poznan, Gdansk or Wroclaw are probably 3 of the hidden gems in that direction and flights are cheaper than the almost £500 2 way flights a colleague had in July/August (she needed specific dates due to commitments)
