Cheapest phone for banking apps

I have an old iPad which is no longer able to install the updates for banking apps. I don’t want the apps on my phone or work iPad.
I want a device that stays at home and will be able to cope with banking updates for a few years.
I prefer apple, but can deal with an android. What can you recommend that will be the cheapest/best device to achieve this? Thanks

There's no 'one size fits all' answer - different apps have different minimum specs, so you need to consider which ones you wish to install prior to evaluating options....

After checking what spec's you banking apps require.
As you never know just what bank may do with their apps.Life in the slow lane1 -

Amazon Fire tablets are better than a cheap generic android30+ years working in banking1

Apple has committed to provide iPhones with security updates up to 6 years after their release. The current iPhone SE (the cheapest currently available iPhone) was released in March 2022 meaning it will receive updates until March 2028. On that basis, this may be your best option.
That being said, it's impossible to know what requirements banking apps will have in the future.2 -
Why don't you want to use your phone? Assuming it is new enough to get the current versions of the apps you need, that is the cheapest solution.0

R4’s Moneybox has been raising the issue recently.

I also don’t need access to that information when I’m not at home and prefer to keep it separate.1
