Amazon refund sent to defunct credit card account

Hello All,

Amazon issued a refund for a returned, faulty iPad to the credit card account I had originally purchased the iPad with but which is now defunct.
The credit card was with John Lewis who changed their banking providers from HSBC to New Day in autumn 2022 . As a result all J.Lewis card customers were issued with new cards therefore rendering their previous cards invalid.

I have for the past month been trying to retrieve the refunded money by contacting Amazon, HSBC and John Lewis without any success. Needless to say I have spent hours on the telephone trying to resolve this situation.

Has anybody experienced a similar situation?
I would really appreciate any advice or help. Even a relevant email address for HSBC or Amazon would be great as speaking to their so called customer services is doing my head in.

All the best

Amazon usually ask if you want the refund to card or a Amazon gift voucher, did they not give you a choice?  I have found in the past it very much depends on who you speak to at Amazon, I would try again and see if you get someone more helpful.

There are a few threads on this subject. Pretty sure a couple have got contact details to chase the payment.

According to this thread, some customers of the previous John Lewis card received an email saying all admin would be dealt by HSBC now. I didn't get that email.
Sorry I can't help any further:

    From the email I received

    "Servicing your account
From the 27th June this year, the Partnership Card mobile app will no longer be available. You'll still be able to access Online Servicing using this new web address:
     servicing-card.hsbc.co.uk/login
If you're set up for mobile banking you can log in using the same details. Any login details you use today won't change.
For future servicing queries continue to call us on 0345 300 3833. We're available between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday except bank holidays"
When I rang about a refund they just did the security checks, saw that my balance was positive and immediately said they would refund it. It was that simple.
