The government is committed to reissuing the Code as quickly as possible".According to coupon-mad's post above it seems the BPA were fed more info than Sir Greg was.
Sir Gregg must be very upset that it has taken 5 years for the Department of Levelling Up to get to a point where they now need a public consultation ?
Can anyone say how they will reach the motoring public ?
Otherwise this will become a complete farce
Have a read of the gov consultation principles.
https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/consultation-principles-guidanceE, I and J is where I feel the DLUHC have failed to comply with the principles. The 5yrs taken doesn't really give the impression the dept is committed to reissuing the Code as quickly as possible. The post office inquiry has moved at a quicker pace than DLUHC.
I've learnt the Cabinet Office is the reporting dept to raise these concerns. A contact form can be completed online, not yet done but it's next on my to-do list. I sincerely hope their complaint handling is much more effective than the BPA's AOS team.

Yes, the DLUHC has failed the public. If you want to sell, you must tell,
I have asked many people if they know about the new code and most have not
All that will happen with the public consultation, it will be put on a government website that millions of people will be unaware of. The comments will be filled in by the parking industry and their mates
How will the DLUHC actually tell the motorists of the UK ?
The DLUHC already have all the facts about the parking scam which makes very bad reading so just get on with it and bring back the code
You mention the Post Office scandal. Most of us heard about it , government did vey little. It was only the ITV drama that exposed the scandal to it's full extent then all hell was let loose
It's only a few months away now that Tory MP's will be looking for a new job. It would be nice to see the DLUHC leaving behind them a legacy that actually works and not leave office knowing that they failed
This mega scam problem will be passed to the next administration0 -
@patient_dream I'm surprised you need to ask "How will the DLUHC actually tell the motorists of the UK?" No doubt they'll use the same recognised methods to inform motorists as they did with the Call for Evidence consultation. And that wasn't just planting it on their website.
How do you think the DLUHC should tell the motorists of the UK?1 -

How do you think the DLUHC should tell the motorists of the UK?
How the DLUHC will let the public know, there is the media, TV, even Youtube
They won't ,,, so the same question is asked ... how will they tell the pubic
Any suggestions from this forum ?0 -

A Google search will reveal some who announced it and encouraged public responses to it.0 -

Will the DLUHC survive as it was only ever used to send money to marginal Conservative constituencies? Including Sunak's own one.
Back to square one as they say.- All land is owned. If you are not on yours, you are on someone else's
- When on someone else's be it a road, a pavement, a right of way or a property there are rules. Don't assume there are none.
- "Free parking" doesn't mean free of rules. Check the rules and if you don't like them, go elsewhere
- All land is owned. If you are not on yours, you are on someone else's and their rules apply.

Sorry to bump this but rather than starting a new thread.
Did anyone else notice the new code of practice was signed into law 20th May?
https://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2024/653/contents/made
I can't find the final code of practice though.
Or is this simply some parliamentary procedure to ensure its survival. Although that seems unlike because the actual bill was passed years ago1 -
When the election was announced, there was a statement that "work in progress" would cease within a few days before parliament was suspended, and that somethings would be "signed off" at whatever stage they had reached otherwise they could be scrapped altogether.
I think this is (fortunately) one of many such processes that were "saved" to use a computer term at an interim point to make sure it still goes ahead.I married my cousin. I had to...I don't have a sister. All my screwdrivers are cordless."You're Safety Is My Primary Concern Dear" - Laks6 -

A positive move - and required!
Previously, all the important parts of the 2019 Act were otherwise left hanging, AIUI:
https://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2019/8/section/12
It had said:
"2) The remaining provisions of this Act come into force on such day as the Secretary of State may by regulations appoint."
So now it's all in force from 20th May 2024.
The timing can't be a coincidence, so it is clear that the Code won't disappear.
Yet more delay but we will get there...whoever is the relevant Secretary of State will be required to carry on with the final IA and laying the Code before Parliament.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
