Looks like Labour are fed up waiting too. On wed Labour MP Emma Hardy presented a Private Members’ Bill in Parliament calling for the regulation of private car parks

    https://bills.parliament.uk/bills/3705

    https://www.thehullstory.com/allarticles/private-car-park-regulation

The Call for evidence consultation closed Oct 8th 2023. Emma says "we’ve heard nothing since...we need real protection for the people through a regulator with teeth.”

That's certainly what's needed but will it mean repeating the whole process/consultation to achieve it?

Interesting (probably won't get far) but all good pressure in the Government to crack on with it.

    Ms Hardy MP said:

“The Government attempted to introduce a code of practice which the parking companies immediately attacked through the courts two years ago. The Government withdrew the code, held a ‘call for evidence’ and we’ve heard nothing since.

“We need real protection for the people like Shirley through a regulator with teeth.”

So far the Dept of Levelling UP has FAILED the public
Sunak must be so proud that once again he is a failure

What on earth are the Dept of Levelling Up doing every day ?  What are tax payers actually paying for ?.... With Gove in charge you can guarantee ... NOT MUCH

The upside Is that we can tell people that companies like DRP, ZZPS, DCBL etc are simlply money scammers and that the BPA /POPLA SUPPORTS MONEY SCAMMERS

GOVERNMENT  has not learned any lessons from POFA 2012 where they were conned ..... they are about to be conned again

No wonder the Dept of Levelling UP will be part of the Sunak demise

Once again Sir Greg Knight MP tabled a written question (26/3/24) asking the Secretary of State for LUHC when he plans to publish the Code of Practice required to bring the Parking (Code of Practice) Act 2019 into force.
Jacob Young MP replied "we intend to publish a consultation on the caps on parking charges and debt recovery fees this year. The government is committed to reissuing the Code as quickly as possible".
According to coupon-mad's post above it seems the BPA were fed more info than Sir Greg was.

No they weren't told more.  It's an educated guess from the BPA that it might be after the local elections.

     Thanks for that info

Sir Gregg must be very upset that it has taken 5 years for the Department of Levelling Up to get to a point where they now need a public consultation ?

Can anyone say how they will reach the motoring public ?
Otherwise this will become a complete farce

Certainly it was delayed by COVID and cabinet reshuffles but mainly, the delay was caused by the two Judicial Reviews.

The parking industry is a hard nut to crack.

Covid is just an excuse, Covid did not last for 5 years.
YES, it is a hard nut to crack but the "NUT" is the BPA and the copycat being the IPC. Get rid of the BPA, who invented the FAKE add-on and whose membership is full of money scammers

The BPA must be the only assocation in the UK allowed to operate a system with so many money scammers, parking companies, debt collectors and dodgy legals
The Department of Levelling Up has lost the plot so we will have to wait until the election when the musical chairs will change

I hope not.  That would delay it.
