Yes I found that aspect interesting.  Knew it would be like this.  I see it as part of the game.

I think they rather dodged the questions about the significance of increased requests to DVLA (market failure) and how the code should reflect disabilities recognised under the Equality Act rather than just blue badge holders. As @Fruitcake said parking industry twitchy about evidence on profits being made public.  I suspect as this would be historical data they would be unlikely to benefit from an FOIA exemption.

As private companies, the parking industry cannot be quizzed under the Freedom of Information Act.

But the question was asked by the industryL=:

"could the DLUHC promise that profits info would remain exempt from release under FOI?"

The DLUHC said no, they can't promise that as anyone is entitled to do a FOI and (of course) to appeal a refusal, and it could be that this info would have to be released.

Yes, the DLUHC are subject to the FOI rules, but the parking companies themselves are not.

    But I digress.

Sorry @KeithP I didn't word that well - I meant that DLUHC would be subject to FOIA

Personally, I think it is very generous of the parking industry to remind us of our rights under the FOIA.  Hopefully the DLUHC will publish as much information as they can to avoid a deluge of FOI requests.

I have a FOI appeal due to be heard by the First Tier Tribunal in Spring 2024 (nothing to do with parking).  It will be useful to get the experience should I need to pursue this route with the DLUHC.

The DLUHC has released the stuff that Trace Debt Recovery forced them to show in August, having taken the ICO to the First Tier Tribunal.

It's darn hilarious but thanks to Trace, it is released. I laughed like a drain when I saw it.

I can share it with those interested but am not ready to put it on an open forum.  Still laughing, though.
