Opposite the above retailer is
Homebase
Old Shoreham Road
Hove
Homebase & Carpetright seem to think they need G24 and £100 PCN charge despite the fact my friend tells me the car park is never full. Borne out by the fact they are selling longer term parking.
INADEQUATE SIGNS = NO DETERRENT
You get a PCN for staying over an hour.Complicated system by all accounts which requires paid parking after the first hour but there are no P&D machines.
The front of a sign is different from the back. Massive green sign offering pay by phone but it mentions no penalty nor warns to read the back of the sign:
By comparison, the so-called contractual sign for £100 is half the size, tiny text and unreadable:My friend saw no 'have you paid?' reminder signs, so people spending time designing a kitchen in Homebase get a £100 nasty surprise in the post 2 weeks later.
Wholly inadequate 'entrance sign' which is no deterrent at all. Nothing at all as you approach:Just this on the left, badly faded, unreadable ANPR data use info / GDPR warning and it doesn't mention the 1 hour free parking restriction:PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

My friend in the Portslade area took pics in the same road as Homebase, of these units:
Hove Technology Centre, St Joseph’s Business Park, Hove BN3 7ES
Confusing, as it's a group of units/meeting rooms etc. that are owned & provided by BHCC but there's no penalty for parking there.
NO PPC
NO ENFORCEABLE RULES
NO PARKING PLACES ORDER OR PENALTY
NO CARMAGEDDONClose up of that BHCC sign on the right:PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Hove
Loads of business units

In the leafy residential area above Hove Park BN3 my contact found another home-made private road sign put up by a group of residents at Kelly Road, Hove, BN3
They are wrongly threatening clamping, but in an area of otherwise restricted permit parking on-street this deters abuse.NO PPC
NO CARMAGEDDONPRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

One more home-made sign that my Portslade area friend discovered:
Pavilion & Avenue Tennis Club
The Droveway
Hove

Example of
Inadequate signs = no deterrent
No idea how much £ the PCN is because the PCM sign has faded so much and my Portslade relative said there were no signs at the bays inside.

That last site quotes a prohibited premium rate 'phone number. That plus the faded Ts and Cs is yet more proof that PPCs don't spend any money on maintaining signs.I married my cousin. Useful to show a £60 PCN in bright, large text.
Also, like ParkingEye and some others, ParkWithEase don't state the discount on the sign, which is a GOOD thing. No need.
A better deterrent without.
Also you can pay at any time (not on entry).
That sign is what good looks like, IMHO.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
