I'm working my way through my response to the Call for Evidence.

Section 1 has a lot of questions for the parking industry about the cost of signage.

I wondered whether anyone had any information about who pays for the signage in most car parks i.e. whether it is the parking company or whether they pass the costs on to the landowner?   Possibly different in residential cases.

I know that in my case (residential car park), residents were charged for the cost of the signage and installation, although I don't know whether it was subsidised in any way.

Is this normal in residential developments?
Parking companies want to spend as little as possible to get the maximum profit out of a piece of land, so I suspect that it is entirely normal for a PPC to get their victims to pay for signage.

Your situation is exactly the sort of thing to include in response to the call for evidence; cost of signage to the PPC = £ Zero.

Another of the parking companies' favourite tricks is not to apply for planning permission for ANPR scameras and control boxes, nor to apply for advertising consent. Not having the latter is a breach of Para 12 of the PoFA as well as being a criminal offence. If you are up for it you could contact your local planning department to see if the infesters at your residence have complied with the law.

Buried deep in the forum's annals will be PPC Witness Statements which include the contract they have with their employing landowner. Often those contracts indicate the signage arrangements - I've seen both f.o.c. and charged for signs. But I don't know any easy way of searching the evidence out as the forum search engine won't pick up the necessary detail from, essentially, scans/photos of the contract.

Maybe it's something we should look out for in any incoming PPC Witness Statements in the next couple of weeks?
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

Didn't know Perky's Combined Parking Solutions were still bothering!

The red colour in itself is a good deterrent.

The £100 is neither here nor there; could just as easily be £70 or £50 and in much larger 'warning' lettering and it would be a far better deterrent.

We all know that the last thing PPC World want is large lettering and deterring people from falling into their 'hidden pitfall or trap'.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
