University of Dundee DD1 Scotland. IPC member issues own pcns. Public can pay to park on campus at certain times but details are hidden by foliage.

UKPC signage at Superbowl Macclesfield. Parking was free for patrons, required to enter vehicle registration number into keypad inside venue. Signage sparse and hidden by trees, font size making it virtually impossible to read the terms relating to registering vehicle. Carpark had never had a PPC, 20+ years, UKPC snared 100's of genuine customers and were kicked out by Superbowl 12 months into a 3 year contract. Not replaced by another PPC and car park runs just fine.

WOW, thanks for posting this ......  no wonder UKPC are changing their name .... but a leopard will never change it's spots.

The BPA must be very proud having UKPC as a member and the DVLA must also be very proud to provide personal data to such an outfit that is simply not fit for purpose

Largest retail park in Dundee DD3 Scotland. 22 units 1200 parking spaces. Only Tesco who have the largest site and most parking spaces have PPC PCN £70 and recently decided to limit their customers with a car to 3hr max stay

@Nellymoser, thank you so much for all the photos you're posting, they're great. You must be covering some mileage in getting around and about so much, just where do you park your helicopter? 😄

@Umkomaas Good to know my photos are appropriate though they're all in Tayside. Heading to Stirling soon so will keep an eye out for parking signs there.

I think what everyone's photos show is lots of empty parking spaces. No doubt they get busier at certain times but it's not demonstrating parking chaos due to lack of spaces as the private parking industry implies.

Plas Coch Retail Park Wrexham (Currys, Boots TK Max, Pets at Home and Costa), is walking distance from Rob & Ryan’s Wrexham FC football ground and Glyndwr University campus. Seemingly part of, but not part of the retail park, are Sainsburys (Euro Car Parks), Aldi (Parking Eye) and Plas Coch pub (no parking controls).

Sainsburys (Euro Car Parks) have historically handled the car parking threat on match days sensibly as per notices (3 hrs free parking, reduced to 1.5hrs on match days), no restriction on walking off site,  a max charge of £85, and genuinely try to prevent problems with clear signage.

Plas Coch RP (Premier Park Ltd) however previously banned people from walking off site every day. And of course £100 PCNs were raised against people popping over from Boots or other stores, to Sainsburys or Aldis to pick up incidentals, as you do. (plus anyone who parked and went to the football when the retail park shops were closed.) It caused problems.

    https://www.leaderlive.co.uk/news/20299003.wrexham-change-controversial-parking-regulations-retail-park/

It took involvement of the media and the property manager Savills to produce the now sensible match days only application of parking restrictions including walking off site.

Aldis (Parking Eye). More legible signs in English are also displayed. £70 charge

Plas Coch pub at entrance to retail area has no parking controls at all, and never has.

    I’d suggest that Plas Coch RP demonstrate PPCs can be controlled but it needs  land owner desire AND strong public opinion;
    -        Sainsburys control Euro Car Parks by not needing £100 deterrence charge, nor penalising for walking off site.

    -        Premiere Park Ltd were forced to abandon their policy of confusion when faced by public opinion, local politicians  AND the Property Manager, Savills

whilst Plas Coch pub shows no controls also work in a challenging area

Do you think you can find time (as our local correspondent!) to email the two MSs here, and encourage them to please supply their evidence to the DLUHC by replying to the Call for Evidence?
    https://www.leaderlive.co.uk/news/23732022.mss-continue-battle-wrexham-island-green-car-park-issues/

This is especially important for the DLUHC to hear from them, because I suspect Euro Car Parks was one of those behind the Judicial Reviews in 2022 that flagrantly blocked the DLUHC's published statutory Code of Practice.

"Lesley Griffiths and Ken Skates continue to try to set up a meeting with Euro Car Parks directors."

{ECP cancelled and slithered away with their fingers in their ears, reportedly}.

“Mr Skates and I also wrote to Nuveen Real Estate, which ultimately owns Island Green, requesting it ends its relationship with ECP. We are yet to receive a reply and have since sent follow-up letters.”

Ms Griffiths added: “The situation is serious as two Island Green retailers recently announced they are experiencing difficulties, with Asda Living closing its doors permanently last month and Wilkos entering administration.

Dozens of constituents and non-constituents have informed me they avoid Island Green altogether because of the parking problems. High streets are suffering as it is so creating further barriers that put people off shopping is clearly nonsensical."

If they are not minded to respond to the Call for Evidence themselves please ask them for a full reply about the effect on the High Streets so that YOU can use their email as evidence to answer the question about human behaviour and deterrence.

Even if you only answer that question, please do that one, everyone reading this!

It's clearly the very presence of an unfair parking operator that is deterring shoppers...  good job, Euro Car Parks.

The BPA must be so proud.

Will do. Good point re asking MSs for evidence of impact on trade. When I followed up my wife's ticket the Deputy Manager of Living blamed the imminent closure on the loss of footfall and a half empty car park since ECP ran it. Certainly my wife has now sworn never to park there again.
And I'm about to hit email send for one to Sarah Atherton, local Conservative MP who also is active for her constituents. The outrage crosses the political parties. She should have input in Parliament.

Sorry, it was a face to face in the store with the Deputy Manager and no recall of name. She opened up after I showed her the PCN and when she realised I wasn't after the store. That's when I learnt the history of ECP at Island Green. I was pointed towards Savills, though the two Senedd Members are after the entity that owns the land. Lot's of people in the shadows.

I know you pm'd me about this one but I missed this post and that apology sign while I was away.

    THAT IS GREAT EVIDENCE!

Thankyou everyone. As the deadline is now 8th October please keep your pics coming for the next 6 weeks.

I can promise you that the DLUHC will see these because they will read my submission, being that I'm on the relevant Steering Group.
