I hope this small contribution assists this forum’s continuing good work….1 -
I know this is not what you want but, for a bit of light relief, here is a car park just off the M5 that has chargers for EVs that you are not allowed to use when the car park is empty!1

signs clearly haven’t been replaced since pre PoFA
Perfect examples for,Q1.4 What is the average cost of updating signage, and how often this is required?
Answer, Zero and, Never
Q1.5 What is the average cost of maintaining signage?
Answer, Zero
This sort of thing must be highlighted to the DLUHC by us with as many examples as possible.
I think the reality as you say the signs are never replaced unless a ppc takes over a site Fruitcake said:We also need evidence where a PPC has caused so many problems for the landowner/retailer that they have been booted out, ideally without another PPC being brought in.
For example, Christie Estates terminated their parking contract with DSFP at their Sandhills beach car park, Devon in March 2021 and took over parking management themselves due to the number of complaints, loss of business, and loss of revenue to local businesses caused by the unfair and aggressive tactics of the parking operator.
I believe this would constitute the opposite of carmageddon.
one of them brought in parking eye as they’re located next to a college but had so many complaints from punters and bad reviews left that I think they feared it affecting the business, I guess they got paid off0 -
Popped into this place, just off the A50 near Derby the other week, no photos just google maps/streetview but it looks the same, no PPC in sight or even on site: Aldi, Costa Coffee, some pizza place, sunbeds and a greggsand no signs of carmageddon either

I know of 2 pubs in my area that have sacked off the PPC but providing the evidence is more difficult

Despite wordy signs, I'd say 'this is what good looks like', as is your pic of the Co-op sign where blue badge holders are not restricted to 1 hour.
Smart (unusually) are considered 'good' here because:
- they let you pay at any time and even 48 hrs later (not that you'd know once home);
- the PCN value is large/bold and it's £50;
- they replaced Napier who INMO ripped people off.
Can you recall what Napier's PCN £ was?
I'm on my hols somewhere hot but thankyou all again for these wonderful evidence photos.
Keep 'em coming!
When Napier were at Willen Lake, the charge was definitely £100.
All the MK Parks Trust car parks (that charge) are now Smart with the PCN set at £50. I think this might be due to timing as the draft statutory code was newly released when they took over. If I recall, the changeover was quite sudden. Perhaps the Trust got fed up with Napier or Smart offered a better share of the revenue from ticket sales.
Would they agree that £50 is more than sufficient deterrent and it's important to make the customer experience of parking easy and un-stressful?
Would they agree to you using their reply in your submission to the DLUHC about the draft IA to support the new Code of Practice, or alternatively perhaps they could respond as a large, independent and consumer-focussed landowner who clearly isn't one that will be having their strings pulled by a parking firm (as sadly, many will)?
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
