This is why Option 3 should be a No-No, when taken with the information that the head of the BPA wants this option so that PPC charges match council charges. If the council charge goes up, the PPC charge goes up as well.

Drivers hit with parking fees six times higher than before under 'outrageous' crackdown (msn.com)

Completely agree with coupon mad this is a breath of fresh air and good car park management. Seems YPS Just Park Parkopedia Horizon all offer paid parking in supermarket car parks but only during stores opening hours.

Never actually used it, concern pcn would be issued. Reviews report this can happen but when driver informs the booking agent they state it will be revoked if issued in error for paid parking session. Though it can take few wks so pcn reminders may appear.

It would be a shame if the pcn issue errors was to ruin what is a good parking idea.

An idea I've never heard the BPA promote or read about in their Parking News magazine. Maybe not so forward thinking after all.

It's a super solution for parking at events. Sainsbury car park near Murrayfield in Edinburgh is used by fans. That Dundee tesco is on the waterfront close to tourist attractions VA museum discovery point and slessor square where events are held. Retailers need to start believing the majority of drivers just want to park pay and be hassle free instead of the nonsense PPCs feed them.

Anyone live near or visiting Norwich who can take some photos please? Google Streetview shows the Riverside Retail Park there was operated by Highview and the charge was £70 in 2019. The 2019 image should be used as well to show neither the landowner nor operator felt the need to increase the charge since then.
Conversely, the retail park opposite was operated by PE who charged £100.

These signs are interesting as it looks like some parking firms have 'seen the writing on the wall' and are maybe looking to earn money from car parks by more legitimate means.

    Agreed.

This from Horizon is "what good looks like" except the £70 is in much smaller and less bold text than the hourly fees.

A sticker to increase the text size of that line will sort that for tuppence, once the new CoP is in!

A bit of background to my post with picture from Waitrose in Cheadle Hulme with the £40 charge: people park here to use the shops in the village as well as the Waitrose store. No “leaving the site” nonsense. It’s very close to the railway station, so you might think it would be subject to abuse from commuters; obviously I don’t know if this happens, but the £40 seems to be enough to ensure it doesn’t become a problem. I’ve been there when it’s been very busy, people coming and going, and never had a problem finding a space.

Another Waitrose one, from Cheadle Hulme - and another one amended with a sticker.

    Thankyou.

This £40 PCN at Cheadle Hulme and the one from Nellymoser at £70 but with a sensible option to 'pay and stay longer' is "what good looks like".

I hope the DLUHC make it clear that the level they set is a CAP not an aspiration!  Can't be forcing PPCs to change signs and arbitrarily increasing the 'penalty clause' where the PCN is happily set lower by the retailer or landowner.

South Liverpool car park with an Aldi but also a Costa and a few other stores. No idea how it is policed as there is no CCTV or mention of it. I just spent 2 1/2 hours in the Costa and will wait and see if I receive anything. Not the first time I've spent longer than the 1 1/2 hours stipulated.

I'm using the excuse that the 1 1/2 hours only applies to Aldi customers as I was using the Costa. I think I could extrapolate that from the grammar on the signs.   :|
