    Beaconsfield Services, J2, M40, yesterday. Part 2.

As you exit the site there is a sign for £150 for stopping on a red route - pc taken from Google maps but it's still there. No T&Cs about it.

Who exactly is the parking operator here?  No name, the web address shown is that of the Information Commissioner's Office, there's no company number, there's no ATA roundel. Looks a bit of a locally made 'look-alike'!

Presumably a hollow threat because I can't find any case of a PCN being issued at an Extra Services.

The company is Extra MSA Property (UK) Ltd

But not an ATA approved operator. No KADOE access. Could do via V888, but no record of them doing so reported on this forum, if memory serves.

I have seen something similar just outside Bristol Temple Meads Station. (Not to be confused with the station car parks operated by APCOA on behalf of the TOC [GWR]) I will try to get a piccy this evening.

My conclusion is that Extra is the landowner/landholder and is an IPC corporate member, but as a landowner/landholder has a right to obtain keeper details themselves without the need to be an ATA member.

Three hours free parking is much better than that allowed by most MSAs, and a tariff for (HGV?) trailer swaps makes me fairly certain the operator is the landowner.

Would they be on the KADOE list as a landowner - or would they just use the DVLA ad-hoc? I can't find them on any list, KADOE, BPA or IPC!

I think as landowner they can apply direct, possibly using a paper form, without the need to be an ATA member which I believe would mean they don't need a KADPE contract.

This no different to you or I make a request to the DVLA if a vehicle was parked on our property without permission.

V888 application, as in my post above. Whether they do or not isn't known (at least to my knowledge and time on the forum).

    Another Motorway Services:

This was Group Nexus at Rownham Services (Roadchef) near Southampton. on our way back from a certain music festival yesterday.

Several signs were very faded. Worse than this.

£100 PCN but 'further costs' not specified as part of the purported contract.

ASDA - Brighton Marina. ParkingEye. My son took this picture last week for this thread.

    Prohibitive terms:

'NO PARKING OUTSIDE OF THESE TIMES'.

No idea how on earth they are imposing those oddly stated 'NO PARKING' times on weekdays because when you google the opening hours of ASDA Brighton Marina, you find:

    https://storelocator.asda.com/south-east/brighton/brighton-marina

    Opening Hours

    Day of the WeekHours
    Monday6:00 AM - 12:00 AM
    Tuesday6:00 AM - 12:00 AM
    WEDNESDAY6:00 AM - 12:00 AM
    Thursday6:00 AM - 12:00 AM
    Friday6:00 AM - 12:00 AM
    Saturday6:00 AM - 10:00 PM
    Sunday11:00 AM - 5:00 PM

So they open at 6am and anyone who arrives even a few minutes early ON A MONDAY gets a PCN? But not on Tuesdays, etc?!

It reads as if '2 hours free parking' is on offer 24/7 on weekdays right through the week. But I don't think that's the intention, given that Asda closes at midnight.

£100 PCN but nothing readable about any added costs. Almost never appears on signs.

So IMHO, the industry has lied & misled the MHCLG by bleating tripe that the fake added £70 fee is a "deterrent against not paying".

    No.

Nobody knows about it until it's too late.

That is neither a contractual term nor a credible deterrent. It's just extorting money from motorists.
