It's interesting to see the Tesco sign above .... £70 ??
Clearly , the industry really does not need to extort £100

Can we assume that the Horizon £100 charge in many Tesco stores, includes the extra £30 which is the commission paid by Horizon self ticketers, commonly known as Tesco staff ???

I shortly will upload pictures of car parks who do not have parking companies in my area icluding KFC, McDonalds, M&S, Costa, Aldi and a very strange Lidl sign that seems like they are operating their own scam

In the meantime, my favourite two signs are ...

The Tesco car park I posted the sign for is opposite the football ground and you occasionally see foot patrols when there is a match.  The biggest issue with this large car park is traffic management as only one exit.  The weekend before Christmas it took me one hour twenty minutes to get back out of the car park so just as well there is 3 hours allowed.  I also took a picture of Sainsbury's car park today but that was £85 with 2 hour maximum. (not sure if you want these)

That's odd. Almost all Sainsburys are £70.

Yes @Coupon-mad I thought it was a weird amount and did a double check after I had snapped it.

  • Tiptree, Essex is a large village, no railway station, nothing of interest except the Wilkins (yummy) jam factory which has lots of parking of its own.  All the car parks are on the same road and are either unmanaged or have a £70 charge.

Photos show Asda, managed by ParkingEye.  Car park fairly empty.  The only spaces with any restrictions or signage are the disabled and Parent/child which are in a row next to the store.

  • Same road, Tiptree, Essex - Tesco (Horizon) £70.  Ominously, they seem to have ANPR and CCTV.  What on earth goes on in this car park that needs remote viewing???  I was told by a local shopkeeper that this is the site of the former village car park and the planning permission required some form of free parking (he wasn’t sure of the details).

  • Same road in Tiptree, Essex.  Another small car park for Iceland and other small stores.  No restrictions and no problems.

Same road in Tiptree, Essex.  Another small car park for independent stores, post office and a cafe.  No restrictions and no problems.  And that concludes this tour of the car parks of Tiptree.

In pursuit of your noble cause I took a quick look round Brigg (a market town nearby).  Lidl and Aldi had free car parks less than half full with no signage and no restrictions (will get pictures next time I am there).  Tesco had same signs as I posted yesterday for Scunthorpe.  I think the fact that our local council offers 2 hours free parking in most of their car parks (to increase footfall in town centres) is probably a factor here. The large Morrisons in Scunthorpe seems to have lost all its parking signs.  I am sure there used to be some with time restrictions but gone now.
