Smart Credit Ltd

I have recently registered with a Credit Reference Agency and can see that a company called Smart Credit Ltd carried out 4 searches on one day in July, and another on a day in May.  Having searched for this company on the internet I don't seem to be able to find out much about them.  I have no idea what these searches were for.  The report stated that they would not affect credit rating, but I still don't know what they were for.  Does anyone know anything about this company, please?

Quite a few people asking this question on various websites.

The general consensus of opinion is that they appear to be trading as SmartSearch - who do anti money laundering and credit searches for various lenders.

If you look at loan / card offers, or compare insurance quotes any time, then you may find a plethora of soft searches appearing on your credit file.

Only you can see these and they should not affect your credit rating.

Thank you for replying.  I found the same results when searching the internet and everything seemed to go back to Smart Search, but I've not done any comparison quotes or applied for any type of loan etc, or changed phone provider etc.  I'll have to try to find out more information, but the Credit Reference company doesn't appear to have a contact number (unless you're on one of their other products).  Their contact form doesn't appear to have a general enquiries option either, fraud is an option to select, but I'm hoping it's not that!  They do have an address to which I can write.
