I buy 2x 100m x 50cm rolls oth Small Bubbles at a time via eBay. Usually works at c. £9 per roll. I factor it into my P&P cost at 10p per metre used.
That’s expensive. I usually pay less than £10 for 500MM x 100M and even selling a fair bit of glass and china it lasts me several months.

  • I've never bought from any particular supplier. I find it is best to get recommended to a seller otherwise the quality can vary a lot. I have bought off ebay and Amazon in the past.

Isn't zackary's about the same price as yours soolin?!  The length and width are in a different order but the rolls are identical in size.

Oh heavens sorry. I didn’t see the fact that one of Zackary’s measurements was in cm - I’m still struggling with the print on MSE and my new eyes ( 2 full lens replacements)

  • I've bought probably 4-5 rolls over about 15 years, from various sources, I used to use an online retailer called Zignig, but they went out of buisness it seems. The second from last lot I got was from ebay, quite cheap, but it was not very good quality, the bubbles would pop with a light pressure, wasn't impressed at all. The last lot i got again from ebay i think was a brand like "Air Cap" or "Sealed Air" or something, and that was much better quality. Paid a little bit more, but I always charge P&P whenever i sell stuff, and a small part of it is for packing materials...

Thank you so much to everyone for their replies.
I did try the googling and storage units suggestions - I had thought about removal firms too. So expensive!

In the end I have gone for the suggestion by Soolin as that seemed to be the cheapest and reviews of the Bubble wrap were still okay, just other items had poor feedback.

I will post back on here when I get it, so others may hopefully benefit too in the future - though as mentioned suppliers and quality can and does change.

Again, many thanks to all :)

Even if the quality is poor please report back as I’ll know not to use them again. Fingers crossed it is as good as my last lot which has excellent bubbles and a good quality plastic .

I have a local packaging company that I use for boxes, tape and bubble wrap.  I pay a little more than I would on Ebay, but I can pop in to collect it  and I know that the quality will be good.  After some terrible quality packaging bought online  - particularly packaging tape and bubble wrap - I came to the conclusion that it can be a false economy chasing cheap products.  I also like the idea of supporting a local family business.

PS Hope your eyes settle down soon soolin!

Received this today but not sure what to tell you exactly as it's not something I buy.
I have found a few random bits from parcels I've received and tried to compare them for you but this is only a rough guide:

All the bubbles (small) seem to be the same or very similar size.
The plastic seems to be the same (thin) thickness and quality.
The bubbles on the new roll pop a little easier (squeezing with forefinger and thumb).
I checked a couple of random rows and there were one or two 'flat' bubbles on the row.
The bubbles didn't appear to pop when moving my fingers over the rows though.

The roll was delivered in just a taped up polythene bag, so not much protection.  There was a slight 'groove' running all the way round, about one third of the way down - almost like if it had been tied abit too tight with string or something previously?

Not sure how you test the bubbles and quality of the plastic, Soolin - so it might just be me being over critical in my description :)

I’m lucky enough to work for a manufacturing company who recieve circuit boards and fabrications wrapped in tons of the stuff. Most of it a fetching shade of pink (the anti-static version specifically for electronics) The stores guys literally throw out a whole wheelie bin full of it every other day, and also cardboard boxes which I also ask them to keep for me. .

if you know someone who works for a company with a stores department they may be delighted to get rid of some of their leftover stuff to you. 😊
