Unrequested Vanquis soft search

I joined MSE Credit club and for the first time, I looked at the soft searches.
Apparently Vanquis did a soft search on my credit file earier this month.
I don't remember any situation where I would have requested this.
A few months ago, I think I did an elegibility check to see if I could get a Vanquis card but I think that was in March or April of this year.
Anyone know why this search is on my file? I know it doesn't impact anything but I am curious.
Is it possible the Credit club are making mid-month searches to see if I am elegible for any cards? Especially when they don't search any other cards.
Any thoughts on this matter?

Credit Club, Clearscore, Credit Karma etc will share your data with lenders to calculate eligibility which may result in a soft search.1
