Cancelling energy tariff
Hi, on the 1st of July we automatically moved to a standard a standard online tariff with Scottish power, which is a variable tariff.
Due to personal circumstances, me and my partner are moving back in with our parents and will no longer need an energy supply. Can we just cancel our contract without incurring fees ?
Many thanks 👍

If you are on the SVT there is no contract or fees. When you move out you just get a final bill.

I'm assuming stv is standard variable tariff ? If so then yes. Also we are in credit, do you know if it's as simple as just getting a refund or is there a certain procedure we need to follow?
Thanks0 -
Make sure you tell the utility companies what day you are moving out. If you don't have smart meters, take a reading and give them the reading too.And that goes for water, too.If you don't tell the utility companies, they will carry on billing you until someone else gives them a reading on moving in.If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.0 -
I'd take a reading and photo anyway even if they are smart meters, just to make sure.Ectophile said:Make sure you tell the utility companies what day you are moving out.
