SEG - We may have a chance to voice our opinion - OFGEM are having a consultation under the heading

Consumer Standards - Statutory Consultation

which only covers how the supplier should conduct accounts etc - well I think they should hear about the injustice about how we are being exploited by suppliers, the pittance they give us and then charge nearly 10 x time back - Plus why hasnt the SEG price been increased over the last 3 / 4 times the supplier has out up their prices

HERE is your chance - I have trust me getting 4 p for every KW yet my daily charge is 42

I wanted to add the link to make it easier but not allowed haven't been in the forum long enough - if you want to add your voice please go to

If you're going to compare the price of "buying energy from a generator" (your SEG) and "supplying energy to a customer" (your unit rate) then you're always going to be disappointed.

I am with Octopus and I am currently getting 20p/kWh for my exported energy and 32p/kWh from 4 to 7pm. Octopus fixed SEG rate is 15p/kWh for customers on a standard tariff and 4.1p/kWh for those who are in an EV tariff. So far this year, my array has generated £465.95 in SEG payments (even though July is proving to be very disappointing).

As stated above, shop around. Ofgem, as usual, has opened a consultation on something that market forces will resolve.

For those who want the link its here.

I read the electric document, the proposals are largely what I actually previously suggested on this forum (and was shot down for it).

So the proposals are to require suppliers to wait no longer than 1 quarter or 2 monthly bills of non payment before treating it as debt management, they will also place an obligation on the suppliers to assess the customer's ability to pay on debt repayment, including on pre payment meters.
