It seems impossible to pay my Hsbc credit card bill online with a debit card from nationwide. All other banks offer this what's up with Hsbc?

Yep I had this problem years ago, even wen't into branch and they said they couldn't help as it's a separate part of the business they 'can't' access. Ended up defaulting in the end after I got made redundant and ended up with a settlement offer.1

Most other banks offer payments with debit cards, but I would hazard a guess that not all do. Ultimately they do not want to pay the fees associated with processing a debit card payment, which is reasonable.goldcollector said:It seems impossible to pay my Hsbc credit card bill online with a debit card from nationwide. What's wrong with paying via the Nationwide app, website or an ATM?1

HSBC return the payment. Ill try an ATM, but unless you have another Hsbc account to pay from it seems impossible.[Deleted User] said:What's wrong with paying via the Nationwide app, website or an ATM?0 -
Do you place the 16-digit card number of your HSBC credit card as the reference when you pay by bank transfer?
The sort codes/account numbers for where you send your payments to are listed on the back of your HSBC credit card statement. Have you asked Nationwide/HSBC why your payment is being returned?

Yep, sorted now..im an idiot. I eventually discovered the details on the back of the statement, but because I had copied and pasted my card number into the reference it did not like the spaces.username said:Do you place the 16-digit card number of your HSBC credit card as the reference when you pay by bank transfer?

Could you open a HSBC Current a/c ? Then transfer from Nationwide to HSBC and then pay the credit card.
A 2nd (or even 3rd) current account is a good idea anyway.
Having already got a HSBC credit card opening a current account should be no problem.
Or open a Nationwide credit card and use that instead of the HSBCNever pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -
You don't need to bank with a credit card issuer. Any current or basic bank account will have the ability to send Faster Payments to the card issuer.Robin9 said:Could you open a HSBC Current a/c ? Then transfer from Nationwide to HSBC and then pay the credit card.
