    Stock acknowledgement letter
Does that mean they will review the evidence and may reduce my band ?
It is a possibility, but judging from recent posts on here, the VOA are more likely to say Band E  is correct. What band did you ask for in your appeal?
    I haven’t actually appealed yet.
If you haven't appealed then how come you received an acknowledgement letter?
I don’t know. All I’ve done is sent them a few emails asking questions and also details of similar houses in lower bands.
You need to check with them but I believe they have treated one of your e-mails as a proposal
If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales

I have the appeal form. Wouldn’t I have to propose what band I think my house should be in?

"Thank you for your proposal" on the letter.

They clearly think you have made a proposal, probably because you have been saying "I think my house should be like this other one".

CSIY has just reinforced my thinking on this, you have (unknowingly) made a proposal

Does this mean I can’t formally appeal using the form if they don’t reduce my band?

From the correspondence you have received from the VOA it would appear your e-mail(s) has been accepted as a formal appeal. Therefore if the VOA do not agree that your band should be reduced and you still believe it should be, the matter will proceed to a Valuation Tribunal Hearing

I will reiterate that to be certain, you should check with the VOA that they have treated one of your emails as a formal appeal.

You are correct. Does that mean I might as well send them the actual appeal form?

     This is what they replied.

”We can confirm the above case number is a formal appeal of the recent change to your council tax band.

We are still dealing with your case.

This process can take up to 4 months to complete, but we aim to provide a decision within 2 months.

If you have not heard from us by 20 December 2023, please contact us.

Please continue paying your Council Tax while we look into your proposal.

    Yours sincerely

No need nor point to send the appeal form, that part of the process has passed
