Theft of cycle by mugging

Posting in the hope that someone has experience of this. I've just had an expensive (£2500) bike stolen by being forced off the road and robbed at knifepoint. I am not harmed and I was not too worried because I insured the bike as a separate item both at home and away from home. Having just read my policy documents (yes, I know, but I'm not the only one who checks the small print too late), the bike is apparently only insured when it is locked inside a building or to an immovable object. I specifically chose "outside home" insurance in case this kind of thing happened. The home policy provider is Admiral. Any words of wisdom from forum members?

Assuming your policy wording is the same as the current one on Admiral's website the "locked to an immovable object" exclusion only applies when the cycle is left unattended. Which makes sense - otherwise it wouldn't cover accidental damage while you were riding it etc as well as mugging.

Good point about unattended. This wording does not appear on the policy document!0

If that wording doesn't appear on your documents, then what wording does?0
