That makes you 16 when you joined up? I didn’t realise that you could join armed forces at 16 , I thought it was 18 or was it different then

Don't know about current rules, but in my day it was certainly possible (with parental consent) to enlist at 16. Couldn't be deployed on active service until 18, though.Durban said:
