Disney World Orlando - Tickets - Warning - Genie Plus

Options
Hi - If you are going to  Disney World at a peak time during summer be aware that you will need to buy additional ride tickets (Genie+).

Uncle Walt is clawing back the money he lost during the pandemic.

The park tickets now only cover entry and access to the ride standby lanes.  The wait time for standby is on average  60 - 90 minutes during the summer months.   People on standby are only allowed onto the ride if there are no Genie+ customers using the lightning lane  - hence the very long wait times for standby.

What this means is  - You now have to buy an additional daily  Genie+ plus tickets ( $20 - $30 per person per day).  This allows you to use the lightning lane ( think of the lightning lane as the normal queue  - wait times can be up to 30mins) for tier-one rides.  If you want to use the more popular rides  (tier 2 & 3), then the  Genie +  app allows you to buy individual rides  ( $10 - 20 per ride ).

In summary -  Disney was always very expensive but now it is stupidly expensive!

Oh ...  Uncle Walt has cut back on a few other things.  There are no refillable Coke and popcorn in some parks.   There are fewer cast members and many are bad-tempered!   Passive aggression from the cast members is common  - you are shouted at if you step out of line.

Disney has lost its magic!
