Clear Vehicle HP with CC, Then Balance Transfer

Hi,
Hope someone can advise.
I have a vehicle HP that I'd like to clear with my CC, then transfer the balance.
Should I pay the HP, then apply for a balance transfer card or apply for the transfer card before clearing HP with CC.
How can I be sure I'll get a transfer card with enough credit to move the credit over?

Get the BT card first, otherwise you could be paying credit card interest whilst you wait for it to arrive. I think you may need to check T&Cs carefully, will the finance accept CC payment? Will the CC company view the finance payment as a cash advance? 

As to getting a high enough limit some providers will tell you at the eligibility stage e.g. Natwest group (Natwest, RBS, Ulster bank), others you have to make the full application. If you are able to pay off the HP by CC you could do it with multiple BT cards if needed.
